From a reserve of 0.1 to a natural pregnancy… a story of hope
“Hello and welcome, Doctor, I honestly can’t describe my joy, thank God, congratulations to myself, and I say it from my heart: ‘I am pregnant, after my ovarian reserve was only 0.1!’”
This was the patient’s words to Dr. Riham El Shal, Specialist in Obstetrics, Gynecology, IVF, and Infertility, when she found out she was pregnant. Here is her story and her opinion on online consultation:
Do you remember the first time I contacted you? I was laughing, and I had good psychological energy, and then you told me: “I want you to keep this spirit, stay like this!”
By God, the satisfaction and gratitude a person feels when they know that what God has written for them is good—only then their heart finds peace.
At that time, I was young, but suddenly I received the news that my ovarian reserve was less than 1. Imagine the shock! I felt like it was the end. But I said to myself: “I need acceptance and contentment, that this is God’s will, and when I accept it, God will bless me.”
The first thing I did after the online consultation? I went down to prostrate in thanks to God, and I prayed for you from my heart, Doctor, because you were the light that guided me through a dark path.
Honestly, I didn’t like the herb “Indian costus,” I had no faith in it, I don’t know why, but you told me it was useful, and you also told me about sage, and explained how to take it. I said, “Try it,” and I tried.
In the same month, December, I did a hysterosalpingography (uterine dye scan), and then I had my first heavy menstrual cycle. Praise be to God, I felt my body was changing.
I went to a doctor who saw that my endometrium was thick, and she told me: “It looks like you are in the second or third week of pregnancy.” I said, “I am following up with a doctor named so-and-so,” and she said, “I know her! I’ve heard good things about her.”
Thank God, may God make you happy, Doctor, you didn’t fall short. You were always calm, explained every step, and gave me hope.
I had planned to travel to Egypt in December, and I arranged everything with my husband, even the apartment was ready, and we were going to stay there for a while.
But praise be to God, the pregnancy happened in Turkey, at a time when I was under severe psychological stress, and I didn’t feel ovulation pain or anything, yet the pregnancy happened!
I monitored ovulation myself, with strips and symptoms, and the month I actually couldn’t monitor was the month God had written the pregnancy.
The test? I did it four days before my period, I did not expect any result, but the surprise? A clear line, a definite pregnancy.
Can you imagine? My first blood test was positive, and I was shocked because my reserve was 0.1!
When I went back to check my ovarian reserve, it was 23 a few months before, then it dropped to 13, and we were actually preparing for IVF in Egypt. We were booking appointments and arranging accommodation, but God arranged otherwise.
I arranged everything between the clinic and the embassy, and we chose a nearby place, but praise be to God, the pregnancy came unexpectedly, without IVF or intervention.
I didn’t tell you this at the time, but I was happy, and today I have to say it because it’s a testimony I hope God will reward me for.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “I take pride in you among the nations,” so with our many offspring, we please the Prophet, and may God bless us all with righteous progeny.
By God, I follow your work, I watched 30-40 episodes on YouTube, and your information is countless, mashallah.
You are a special case, Doctor, your work is pure, no advertisements or propaganda, just knowledge, expertise, mercy, and honesty.
And everyone around you from the team was congratulating me and asking: What is the role of the online consultation?
And I say honestly: After God, the reason for this pregnancy is you.
I visited 7 doctors, and all of them said: “IVF,” and “not yet the time,” but you were the first to listen to me and say: “Let’s give it a chance and treat,” and indeed, my husband had some issues, and we treated him, and I started working on myself.
I learned from you how to monitor my ovulation, understand my body, and when I was psychologically comfortable, the pregnancy happened.
Praise be to God, I intend to come to Egypt, and we’ll take photos on Zoom, just like we did with Malik from Britain.
My husband loves Egypt; we traveled there more than three times in less than nine months. God willing, we’ll come to you together, whole, so you can hold him and bless him.
I am proud that I contacted you, that you chose us to follow up with you, and God willing, we will continue the journey together.
Thank you, Doctor, for every word, for your patience, for your support, for walking with me step by step… May God make you happy and increase your blessings, and provide for you from sources you never expect, just as you were the reason for my joy.
